Fourteen artists from across the country were selected to take part in OPENLab2016, a socially engaged interdisciplinary arts laboratory. OPENLab2016 started off with a series of workshops facilitated by artist and lead facilitator, Paul Gazzola in Bloemfontein during the course of the Vrystaat Kunstefees. These intense daily workshops were facilitated by Abrie Fourie, Ella Ziegler, Mabitsela Ignatius Lesiba, and Khanyisile Mintho Mbongwa.
